The earliest elevators can be traced back to ancient China and various European countries, where tools such as winches were used to vertically transport people and goods. Modern elevators are a product of the invention of the steam engine in the 19th century. The first elevator was invented in 1845, initially using water as the liquid. In 1853, American Elisa Otis invented an automatic safety device, greatly improving the safety of cable-driven elevators.
In modern times, wooden ladders were used to lift goods, which were inconvenient and dangerous to climb. Shanghai was the first city in China to install an elevator. In 1907, the six-story Huizhong Hotel installed two Otis elevators. Taiwan's first commercial elevator was installed in Taipei in 1932 during the Japanese occupation; it was then called a "flowing cage." Domestically produced elevators come in various models, with lifting heights ranging from 4 meters, 6 meters, 18 meters, and even up to 100 meters. They utilize advanced domestic and international hydraulic, motor, and pump station systems, as well as explosion-proof hydraulic systems and hydraulic self-locking devices. It boasts advantages that other products cannot match, such as novel design, reasonable structure, balanced lifting, simple operation, and convenient maintenance.
It is widely used in factory maintenance, industrial installation, equipment repair, property management, warehouses, aviation, airports, ports, 4S shops, stations, machinery, chemical, pharmaceutical, electronics, and power industries for the installation and maintenance of high-altitude equipment. Its applications are quite extensive, and it can be installed and used without a machine room or shaft.
The development of elevators is at its peak. As most factories and individuals choose multi-story buildings to improve space utilization, a device is needed to facilitate the lifting and lowering of goods. Because ordinary elevators are expensive and have low load-bearing capacity, they are not suitable for carrying tens or hundreds of tons of goods. Therefore, high-load-bearing hydraulic elevators have been developed to assist in production and cargo transportation. Elevators are safe, have a large load capacity, and are easy to maintain, enabling this specialized industry to develop more rapidly.
