The tower crane slewing system includes slewing bearings, slewing gears, hydraulic motors and reduction gearboxes. First, maintain regular lubrication. The slewing bearing and gear meshing area must be filled with high-quality grease on schedule. Insufficient lubrication directly causes metal friction noise and accelerated wear. For desert and dusty sites, shorten the lubrication cycle and clean dust and sand before refilling grease to avoid abrasive particles damaging the gear surface.
Second, check bolt tightness regularly. Loose slewing support bolts are a major cause of periodic impact noise and jitter. Check all connecting bolts every week and retighten them according to standard torque to prevent structural vibration during rotation.
Third, inspect the slewing motor and reducer. Abnormal buzzing, friction noise or slow rotation usually comes from insufficient hydraulic pressure, aging internal gears or oil deterioration. Replace degraded hydraulic oil and gear oil regularly, and check for oil leakage and pressure instability.
Fourth, troubleshoot common abnormal noises.
Continuous friction noise: Insufficient grease or sand intrusion. Clean and re-lubricate immediately.
Impact knocking noise: Loose bolts or gear tooth wear. Re-tighten bolts and check gear clearance.
Humming noise with slow rotation: Motor aging or hydraulic system failure. Check pressure and replace worn parts.
Fifth, implement seasonal protection. In high-temperature, dusty or humid environments, add sealing protection for the slewing system to prevent sand, moisture and corrosion. Regularly clean the slewing platform dust accumulation to reduce operating load.
