Hydraulic System "Freezing Resistance" Guide

 

Hydraulic oil is the most prone to "malfunction" in elevators during winter. Low temperatures cause the viscosity of the oil to increase and its流动性 to deteriorate, which can result in slow or even impossible lifting of the elevator.


Replace with winter-specific oil: When the ambient temperature is below 0℃, it is recommended to promptly replace the regular hydraulic oil with low-temperature-resistant winter-specific hydraulic oil (such as 32# anti-wear hydraulic oil) to ensure that the oil maintains good流动性 at low temperatures.
Run with no load for preheating: Before officially starting work each day, do not directly lift with full load. Instead, perform 3-5 cycles of no-load up and down operations to allow the hydraulic oil to circulate and heat up in the system. Wait until the oil temperature rises and the system operates smoothly before starting normal operations.


Check the condition of seals: Low temperatures can cause rubber seals to harden, shrink, or even crack, leading to oil leakage in the piping. Pay special attention to checking the sealing conditions at the oil cylinder, joints, and valve blocks. If any aging or damage is found, replace the low-temperature-resistant seals immediately.

 

 

Mechanical structure "anti-freezing" and lubrication

 

Metal components will exhibit a cold contraction effect at low temperatures, and their surfaces are prone to frosting and icing, increasing mechanical friction resistance.


Clearing ice and rust: Before each use, it is essential to remove ice, frost, and debris from the guide rails, scissor arms, chains, and rollers. For elevators that operate outdoors for a long time, inspect the exposed metal surfaces and promptly apply anti-rust paint or anti-rust agents.
Adjust lubrication strategy: In winter, choose lubricants that are resistant to low temperatures and have good fluidity. Fully lubricate the moving parts such as guide rails, bearings, and hinge shafts to prevent overload of the motor or abnormal wear of components due to frozen or dry lubricants.


Tightening connection bolts: Thermal expansion and contraction may cause bolts at each connection point of the equipment to become loose. Regularly use torque wrenches to inspect and tighten the connecting bolts of the base, slewing bearings, and lifting arms to ensure structural rigidity.

Electrical system "damp-proof and condensation-proof"

 

The temperature difference between indoor and outdoor in winter is significant, which makes it easy for condensation to form inside the electrical control cabinet, potentially causing short circuits or component malfunctions.


Keep the computer room and the electrical control box dry: Ensure that the environment where the equipment is located is well-ventilated and dry. You can place desiccant in the control cabinet or install a small heater to prevent water vapor from condensing and damaging precision electrical components such as contactors and relays.


Check the cable sheaths: Low temperatures cause the outer sheaths of wires and cables to become hard and brittle, which can lead to cracking and leakage at the bending points. Carefully inspect all cable lines, and if the insulation layer is damaged, immediately wrap it with insulating tape or replace the new line.


Battery maintenance (for mobile/vehicle-mounted): If the equipment uses a battery, low temperatures will significantly reduce the battery capacity. Ensure that the battery is fully charged, and it should be charged regularly when not in use for a long time. Try to store the battery in a suitable temperature environment.

 

Safety Reminder: Winter sees frequent adverse weather conditions, increasing the risks of lifting operations. Operators must ensure they wear anti-slip and warm protective gear, strictly follow operating procedures, and strictly prohibit conducting outdoor high-altitude lifting operations under extreme weather conditions such as ice and snow, strong winds, etc.
